Cheating...or just being "efficient"

Just guessing, but I bet you would have held the plane on course much better if you had both hands on the controls and your head up as opposed to fiddling with a whiz wheel in your lap that gives you a relatively useless wind drift correction. How much correction do you need? 7 degrees? No. You need whatever it takes to hold the plane on course; much simpler that way. Whatever, it's part of the hazing I guess.

You remember the sims in Primary...

Bogey, whizzing his wheel and attempting to get sim #13 to keep from entering OCF:

Bogey: "Uh....sir, I'm estimating the TAS at... uh... 193 knots"

*aircraft banks 60 degrees and dives*

Bitter old man pulls mic away from his face

Horseman (to himself): "WTF are you doing in there??"

Horseman ATC: "Navy 7G735, say altitude!"

Bogey: "Fvck!"

:D

Bottom line from this dialogue is learn how to use it, but in the real world, you probably won't be busting hand calculations, nor will you be spinning the whiz wheel in the cockpit. I don't think it's cheating. You were supposed to have a calculator, right? You know how to do the math right? Then what's to say you could write the program YOURSELF?? You're fine.

I say it's a smart use of allocated resources! I took a scantron test in my calc 2 class in college. The Prof allowed calculators and we didn't have to show our work. I was done with that test in record time. I loved my HP-48G!

Those in life who think they are better than NFO's.....find themselves surrounded by them in P-3's.:D......almost forgot, they put a Flight Engineer in there to move the throttles so as to further antagonize you.:D
Nah, we tell them to move the levers. Surrounded by NFO's, though... touche :)

Anymore than 3-5 periods, and FV problems almost have to be done by calculator.

The QB is making more, but the Wide Out is much higher on the dollar to felony ration. And I didn't even have to use my TI-XX calculator.

Would you like a ppt slide about it? Now that is where a young ensign/2nd Lt. to be should be focusing his effots.

Oh, and use the calculator. I was an athlete. We had plenty of "help" that was considered fair, and much worse than that. Relax.

I've never heard of a prof. who did not advocate the use of a financial calculator and failed to specifically mention they were prohibited. I've had 4 different time value of money lectures in four different classes for a total of about 15 minutes of lectures. It consisted of "Here are the formulas, next page."

I think the majority of professors realize that college students have better things to do with our time than hammer out a page of work for a single time value of money problem.

Like drink beer.

Does your school have a formal honor system? If so, I'd say play it well on the safe side. At Vandy I was on the honor council and I saw a ton of kids come in who, though many of them were found not guilty, had they simply talked to the professor about some of these situations in which they could have crossed the line, they would have saved themselves a huge headache since the whole hearing process takes a ton of time.

Semper...i figured that was you, how's Ziggy?!?

That's a good leadership bullet for FITREP time.:D
"Led expeditious power lever movement with extraordinary success, increasing shaft horsepower output by over 600% and providing a vital and unmatched execution of waveoff procedures. Early promote."
