Anyone own any display cases?

All,

I'm looking into getting my Dad a display case for a rifle (birthday present). He just acquired a lever action Winchester '94 that isn't fireable, but looks nice. I thought a wooden case w/ a glass front would be a good way to hang it up on the wall. Does anyone own something like this or know where to shop for them?

I've done some searches and came up w/ a variety, but I'd love to hear if any of you have personal experience. Thanks.

-Noze

An example of what I'm looking for:

I have a nice sword display case that opens from the front....but you can't tell because it's very nicely done. I'll have to look through my stuff to see where I bought it.

Hey Noze...
I certainly can appreciate the sentiment, and the aesthetic...trust me...I'd love to have a few display weapons on the wall...but allow me to be a cautionary tale. 20k in firearms, gone...and not a one of them was in plain sight.

If the firearm has any value at all...and if its an original '94 it probably does, I'd at the very least give it a second thought. If nothing else, it clues a potential thief into targeting you because he knows that there might be firearms there....trust me, they are looking.

Believe me, the thought has crossed my mind. It is by no means in mint condition, but I'm sure it has some value. If I lived near my Dad and had access to it I would find out exactly what it's worth. I wouldn't be surpised if, after some tweaking/repair, could be made into fireable condition.

There’s a local artisan advertising in the post office of my small town for items like this, custom flag cases and such. If you’d like I’ll get some contact info for you in the morning. (I'm in Maryland.)

I'd like to help you -- but I can't. I have cigars and liquor and a divorce decree in "display cases" ... but any and all firearms reside in hard-core safes.

I understand this is a "non-working" example. Is a "custom" job from a good cabinet maker an option??

Good luck.

Aside from your CCW right Sir?;)
