Ribbons and warfare devices

I'd like to hear some comments regarding priors wearing their ribbons and E-warfare pins in the pipeline. I'm definitely proud of what I've earned in my time, but don't want to be looked at as "that guy" when I too will just be another student.

I'm wearing alphas when I check in to TBS so I'm not treated like dirt by the M Co meatheads handling my stuff. I'm not expecting to get a steak and a BJ for it, just to be given some of the dignity that I earned while they were still in high school.

Wear it proudly.

Well, in that case if ya'll see a new butter bar around NAS this summer sporting silver dolphins, and you want to hear a little about "what there is to really do/see in Guam" or why Brisbane was cool chat me up.

27 days and a wake up!

Odd? It's just like any other nametag. Name, Rank/Callsign, and warfare pin. If you're a transition who doesn't have wings but has a warfare pin, why wouldn't it go on your flight suit nametag?

I know several folks with multiple warfare devices...all of them will wear all their devices when in SDBs, Khakis, etc but their flightsuit nametag just has their wings on it (i'm sure out of simplicity and it keeps the embroidering charge down). Many of our AWs have both Aircrew wings and their EAWS. Their flightsuit nametags only have aircrew wings.

Yes, but if you don't have wings . . .

I saw plenty of studs with SWO or Aircrew insignia on their flight suit nametags going through the pipeline.

I've already decided that my silver dolphins will not be added....

As a fellow enlisted submariner and soon to be naval officer (SNA), it bothers me to see you say that. You should be proud of what you have done. Wear those silver dolphins proud. It takes allot to get them. It takes allot to get your wings. Unlike the surface community, the only way to avoid gettting either is to quit. Where you have been is what has got you to where you are.

Thousands of priors before you checked in wearing a suit. Ribbons/badges don't make the man. If you're worth of (extra) respect it will come out from your actions, not what you wear on the first day.

I know. It's only the first day I'm talking about though. That, and I'm conditioned to checking in with alphas. I have the uniform so I might as well...

When someone asks you about your dolphins, you can say you learned your lesson, that's why you are at flight school. Seriously, though, you should wear your earned devices. I did and I had IPs ask me what my background was....if anything, it'll prove you have some smarts! :D

No one has mentioned it yet, but what about EAWS wings? I ask because it sounds like bad JuJu to wear any kind of wings in flight school.

Are you saying they wear Pilot Wings AND ESWS/EAWS if they earned the devices? I know I haven't seen the whole fleet, much less ANY of the aviation community, but I've never seen a SWO prior wearing their enlisted warfare pins.

Because if you have ESWS and SWO pin, the SWO replaces the ESWS IIRC.

I have seen pilots wearing EAWS under their wings.

If you earned either, wear it. If you have multiple, pick your favorite/highest for your flight school nametag.

Gotta look better than the CanoeU guys with their Scuba badge on there.
