I wish I lived in an area where I could get involved in this sort of stuff. It's been since 1993 since I was last involved in restoring a B25, which was in San Antonio at Stinson Airport for the CAF.

Good writeup in the base paper today about this. I was hoping it'd be the start of a trend, where each squadron picked a plane at heritage park and restored it. That PBY (especially) needs some maintainer love.

Excellent idea, you should bring this up to the right people and see if it could happen. Heck, I'd be willing to go to Jax and work with VPU-1s people on restoring an old bird. I'd have to figure out how to differ my expenses though. Maybe I could get a job interview at NADEP for the tax right off.

Well I'm heading off to the Miramar Air Show, hopefully to capture some shots that will end up in this thread. If you see a dude who looks like he couldn't possibly be a Naval Aviator, wearing a shirt that is a spoof of "Old School" with wings on it, with skater shorts and vans, that's me. Come say hi.
