$19 delta for me... Doesn't surprise me... comes out to what... about a 240 difference over 12 months? But then add that up for the rest of the career...

Fixed that for you.

I have no idea what is in that bill, but just because it it's a defense bill doesn't mean it was a good one. I'm not necessarily defending his action to veto the bill, as I don't have the information, but remember how slimy and nasty politicians can be and what they hide in bills.

It's more that the administration complained about the original bill - and then it was reworked to meet their demands - and THEN it was vetoed. For reasons that no one can really articulate right now.

Come on now. Bush has done a hell of a lot more for the military paycheck than Clinton and his boys did. Anybody else remember the two raises we got in 2001? If I remember correctly, my raise was around 11%. Every year since has been better than any of Clinton's raises. Don't count on any of those big raises if the Dems take back over.

That was largely because of the targeted pay raises and congressional initiative. And if you think Congress does not hold a lot of sway in getting the military pay raises, the administration proposed a 3.0% pay raise while Congress mandated a 3.5% one.

A Republican Congress I might add. How we (the Republican Party) managed to f$%# up so badly I'll never know, but seeing as I couldn't vote until the end of 2004, I'm just as innocent as Michael Hayden:D

I believe by law, the military doesn't have to pay us for 6 months, however at the end of said time, we would recieve one lump sum paycheck.
