There was word going around my brothers office that Robert "Bob" Davis was retiring from USAA as president and CEO and yesterday it was released to the public.

Many were happy about the news...and talk has been said it was time for a change.

Read the information released from USAA Tuesday here.

I'm a USAA member but I'm not really up to speed on their politics...what kind of positive changes are people expecting to come about as a result of Mr. Davis retiring?

I think the buzz word around USAA is, "change is good, change is healthy, change was needed" Only time will tell...but apparently Robles has a very good standing with the board and members.

A good standing with board members means he can make the company money.

Time will tell if he can make my board (namely: me) happy. That's the one i'm concerned about.

But of course ....

.....just like USAA suggested our premiums would go down when the floodgates opened (no pun) in the late '70's-early '80's to admit into membership the unwashed gray masses ... ??? :D

okay. here's a new update...apparently Mr. Bob Davis..was voted out by the board to happily force his retirement. Generally Mr. Davis would start letting employees go around the holidays so that he didn't have to give them bonuses...a few years back when the entire layoff was basically unheard of took place..he was letting people go that were close to retirement...one of our friends who worked there 26 plus yrs was let go... but he was rehired back 3yrs later in to another division since the guys who were under him would have been his boss(kind of awkward position for him).

Anyhow, lots of employees were happy about Davis's farewell...and karma is a bitch only to know that there was one layoff over the holidays..."his". :)

My brother said, even though he holds a high ranking position they all felt like sitting ducks. If you didn't say what Davis wanted to hear...you were gone no questions asked. My brother said everyone would be nervous getting called into his office..and if you were let go you had to leave the building right then and there and someone would pack up your things for you.

Anyhow, apparently there were numbers in the millions..that were not adding up..and no one wanted to bring it up to Davis-because he didn't want to hear about it.... it wouldn't surprise me that something comes out later on about him swindling a few millions under the table...

again, like I said, only time will tell.
