So who else here ain't home (Boat, Sandbox, etc) for Turkey Day?

Surprisingly enough, Thanksgiving in Africa ain't as great as you might think. I mean, sure it's 90 degrees out, but we don't even get khat with our StoveTop.

Anyone else?

I'm that "Mom" that lurks on the forum. This year, for the first time in several years, our older son is home for Thanksgiving. Last year he was "somewhere in the Gulf". Years prior he was at Lemoore, Meridian, or Pensacola. I am thrilled to have him home and, at the same time, I am sad for the mothers and fathers whose sons and daughters are unable to be at the Thanksgiving table this year. Our "little guy" wasn't able to get leave for Thanksgiving this year and hasn't for the past two years. We will be missing him again at the family table this year.

But know this all of you Air Warriors, every Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine and Coastie out there serving our Country day in and day out... As we all gather around the table today and lift our glasses to give thanks for our many blessings, each and every one of you are at the top of our family's list of people for whom we give the greatest thanks.

Rest assured, I will remind our non-serving family members today, IN MY BEST "MOM-TONE" EVER, that giving thanks to those that serve our Nation, is something they should do every day.

From the bottom of my heart, Thank You to every one of you has served, is serving, or is working hard to get themselves commissioned. You men and women are my heroes.

To Uncle Fester and anyone else who can't be home this year... PM me when you get stateside and we'll have you over for a belated Turkey Dinner, we're keeping the table set for you!!!!

~ Mom

I wasn't able to make it home for Thanksgiving but I am still nice and safe here in Corpus and I'm lucky enough to have roommates here that'll make the holiday a good one.

My sincerest thanks to all of you who are deployed away from your families or otherwise in harms way right now. Stay safe and God bless.

Didn't make it home for T-day. Decided to stay in p-cola and fly (IFS) on Wednesday and Friday. Tryin to speed the process along.

Thanks to all our shipmates who aren't at home because they've been called them away to fight!

You're all in our prayers.

Not "home" but not haze gray and underway either.

Having football & bachelor dinner with some other JOs, then TheMan(tm) is having us over later for a more formal dinner.

Same here. I'm at my house, but by no means home. Today is consisting of turkey at my friend's and some football at my neighbor's. Oh... and surfing airwarriors. But hey, it sure beats Africa.

How's that Kool-Aid taste?

No Kool-Aid - it's the truth.

I left the town in which I grew up with no intent of ever returning (save a periodic visit with my folks). One of the reasons I joined the Corps was to get out and see this "world" everyone talks about. Since the day (no, the early, early morning :D) I stepped onto the yellow footprints on the Island, I have called many places "home." (Like Carlin once remarked, home is an abstract idea - it is a state of mind.)

I'm in Bahrain for the second Thanksgiving in a row, but thanks to Ric's Kountry Kitchen, I'm stuffed.

even though I'm deployed, I am still Thankful for the service of those around me. When I was on the ship today I was able to grab 2 plates of turkey & fixin's from the dirty shirt for my Aircrew. They are some hard workin' sumbitches!
