I will be moving down to Pensacola the first of the year and am starting to look for a house to rent. I want to move somewhere around Ferry Pass/ Northpointe. Does anyone have any knowledge of this area? and possibly some more specific areas around University Mall/ UWF area? Thanks!

Depends on where you'll be working and what kind of commute you're willing to accept. P'cola's a geographical oddity - takes 45 minutes to get between any two points. The only expressway of any kind is I-110, which runs between I-10 and downtown. Anywhere else, you're on surface roads with lots of stoplights.

So, if you're working at mainside (NASP proper), living around UWF will mean a fairly long commute in stop-and-go each day. On the other hand, living outside the back gate and toward Perdido will get you close to base but a long way from anything else (shoppng, bars, restaurants, etc).

If you're SNFO, living on the stretch of 98 between the gates (by Corry Station) is a decent compromise. Fifteen minutes to MATSG-21 or Sherman Field, 20 minutes to downtown, and about 35 to the mall.

Then again, I have a full-time (mostly) stash job.
