Bad gouge..Johnny Cash's are going away. I think it will be the new Digi Cammies. I bought Johnny Cash's we didn't even use them once...........for anything.
Bad gouge. Johnny Cash's are a service uniform as well...same class as service khaki and summer whites. To my knowledge, neither are going anywhere, as only the enlisted service uniforms are changing.

The NWU is replacing wash khakis. That is all. You just won't be able to wear the JC as a working uniform with no ribbons after the changeover, but since it's going to remain an authorized service uniform, you'll still have to have it.

EDIT: Would make sense to get rid of the JCs for officers anyway, since very few ever wear them (and people tend to have a misconception that they are not authorized for wear by officers), but they are not being replaced by the NWU.

EDIT2: Motbaille, why only 6x pairs of underwear? You realize that there are 7 days in a week, right? You also realize there will be days that your stuff will get so rank that you'll want to change? You should probably have 8-9 pairs of under-things.

EDIT3: Mot, most of that unofficial list can be obtained while you're at OCS. Cuticle scissors are going to be thrown into your seabag in your first visit to king hall in indoc week. The headlamp is not necessary.

Spekkio,

I was meaning for wear at OCS. They are getting rid of them, I believe I or a couple classes a head of me were the last to have to purchase them.

The only reason I said 6 pairs was because that's what's on the official list. You're right, I'll probably buy more and they probably sell them in 8 packs anyways.

This seems to confirm it...the official list of all necessary items for purchase at OCS has been updated:

http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/otc/pdfs/OCSCompleteIssue.pdf

They've discontinued the purchase of wash khakis and johnny cash's bringing the total, without the addition of Brooks Bros. uniform items, to about $2000 for men and $2200 for women, give or take with an additional $624~ for the NWU bringing the grand total to about $2,624 for men and about $2,824 for women. This, of course, is the standard issue and doesn't include the additional cost of any Brooks Bros. items.

maybe i missed it but what did they replace wash khakis with?

my johnny cashs are still wadded up at the bottom of my seabag, i don't think they've changed position since RLP.

The only uniforms I even kept from OCS were the Poly khakis. There may be some homeless guy walking the streets in some Johnny Cashs'.:D
