So I'm at the exchange shopping for new smoke detectors because the ones in my house have started going off at random times throughout the day and night. And they are all wired together so if one goes off, they all go off. Anyway, this older guy, probably about 65 or so, makes a recommendation about smoke detectors and then starts talking about how he was (or still is) in the NSA/CIA/FBI..... not sure which one. Anyhow, he mentions this website that some of his old NSA/CIA/FBI buddies put together.

Pretty cool setup but it seems a little alarmist. Any little degenerate who thinks it's funny to call a bomb threat in to his local Kwik-e-Mart gets mapped.

That's a lot of information to take all at once, very interesting though. Must take a lot of work to keep running

Just saw on that that the War Resister's League and others have been protesting at the recruiting station in Times Square, NYC. They're trying to shut it down for a week, apparently.

Yeah, I agree...... like the bomb threat at the KMart in North Dakota..... don't think the AQI are really interested in that one.

The owner of the website (http://www.globalincidentmap.com/) contacted me in flashchat [MapDude] because for some reason is not able to post, nor can I view his profile. I can't verify his identity, but I don't see a negative in posting this. I don't know if we set minimums for posting in Misc yet or not, but he wanted me to pass this on...

"I don't know who would have told that person the site was created by nsa/fbi/cia - I get to interact with those folks quite regularly but the site wasn't their idea, they don't fund me, ( I wish they did lol ), and we are not funded or influenced by any third party - it's all one civilian dude doing it on my own"

EDIT: Wanted this added on...

"you can add a 'thank you for your service' from me to the post if you like. My family appreciates
everyone in the military"

I may be making a little bit of a stretch here but I'm detecting a little slant to that website...maybe I'm just crazy. That guy seems like the Michael Moore of Muslim hating.

Yeah, just ignore all that stuff if you want to but they keep track of attacks by militant/radical Islamic groups

Good thought but given the ridiculous shit elsewhere on that page, I'm not sure that I'd trust his assessment of terrorist acts/perpetrators...

Since the Great Spammer Onslaught of '07, new accounts have to be approved by an administrator. I just checked MapDude and he's still waiting approval. No reason for concern.

I haven't been in in a while to moderate the users, so there's a bit of a back log. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Mapdude can post now. I'll get to the rest (hopefully) this weekend if webmaster or LEL haven't gotten to it yet.
