Check out this animation of the F-35B STOVL capabilities. Not sure how to embed video in the post so I apologize for that.

Cool video, very sharp looking aircraft. You know there are videos of the actual prototype doing this, happened a few years ago I believe. When Lockheed was competing with Boeing during the whole JSF competition. If anyone has Netflix, take a look at Nova's "Battle of the X-Planes". It's a good look at the whole thing, with some nice footage of both planes.

I thought the same thing. The only two things that gave away it was an animation was how all the compartments closed at the same time after takeoff and the camera action when the plane rolled in the air. Pretty damn impressive.

Nice, Now all we need is the money to make them..

Haven't you been paying attention... we have plenty of money to spend on F-35s, the treasury says we have nothing to worry about... and besides if we run out of money are good pal Bernake will just print off a few billion more.

Its a cool jet and all and I'd love to fly it someday but man, all those thing that have to work just right would make me a little nervous. The more shit you add, the more likely it is for things to go south. Hopefully they will get all the bugs worked out before we have to send it into combat. Still a cool jet though.

Does that video show two ducted fans behind the cockpit? I thought it only had one or is that something else?

I got to fly the F-35 sim up in Ft Worth 2 years ago. WAY easy to fly and hover. However, the Marine Test Pilot (F-18 background) said that Harrier guys hate the logic used in the software.
