My, what a pissy mood we're in today!.....some birds had engineers for the mechanical expertise?
Yeah, you're probably right.

Just been burned by MX -- BIG TIME -- on a couple of occasions -- same for some friends who are no longer with us. The MX cover-ups went down as I "alluded to" .....

All mo' bettah' now, however -- as lime squeezing time approaches.

maitaihc7.jpg

And for the record -- I've been an FE for a couple thousand hours -- not including > 20K of stick time -- taught FE and flew it --fixed a few things that would have downed the A/C --- kicked a few mechs off the aircraft who would have downed an "up" bird --
liked "FE" and didn't like it -- it usually depended on whether or not it was a Tuesday or a Saturday or whether or not the Captain was an asshole.

Of course, I realize .... and it goes without saying ... that this Captain condition is a very, very rare event.

Sound familiar???

XOXOXOXOXOXO :)

You lost me on that one MX??? Help me out.

Gawdammit, now you want to swap spits. OK, as long as it's done quietly and Bates ain't taking pictures!

For the record, I LOVED playing FE, best job in the Navy.....except during trainers when there's a beer bust going on or Superbowl Sunday!
Getting back to my original chime in, did you check with the Grubbie guy yet? Remember, I'm talking E2-A's and B's as well as A-6 A's.

We always called Maintenance "MX" for shorthand ... b-b-b-but then, w-w-w-w-we're WestP-p-p-p-pac sailors, t-t-t-t--ooo. :)

I'll check with a couple of Grummies when they return from their week long "early secure" -- probably mid week.

Us po' folk on the west coast also call 'em "mounts." ;)

But who really gives a bleepity bleep. You can call it what you want, just don't blow it.*

(TINS) Had an MCPO tell a green-unwashed-gullible-nugget pilot I once knew, just prior to a ferry flight that, "you will probably get a FIRE LIGHT after about 20 minutes on that right engine .... but pay no attention to it - It has a history."

Ever get a FIRE light in-flight and try not to notice it, much less not react aggressively to it? Can't be done! (Nor should it.)

That pilot was never as "green and gullible" ever again, after that!

Isn't that why dikes are issued along with a 9/16 rag? :D

Hmmmm NX, Drop X, and even DX yep, you probably just couldn't write out "MC". :D Back in the day when even I was wandering the dirt streets of "Po City......" Magsaysay to Rizal all the way up to the Tom Tom Club! Hell, remember the Big E Supper Club when it was a casino?

Except Maintenance never "controlled" anything .... OPS did ..... MX (they) just responded if they were "good" ... and we called 'em "MX" instead of "MC" as a result ..... like "CNX" if a flight was canked for maintenance .... no matter what the LDO's and/or MX Mustangs thought. And the O-4 division officer(s) were .... well ..... challenged. I still don't know where the "X" factor crept in .... but that's what we used.

I loved the 'PO and the 'PO loved me. Jolo's?? New Jolo's?? Old Jolo's?? Marmont 3?? U&I Club?? 7 Seas??? East Inn Club??

I thought the Tom Tom Club was where all the sub guys hung out ... ????

I was at least a quadruple centurion over the main gate bridge. Be still, my beating heart .... :D

MX, WX, PoX. WTF?

I might have even 'paved' the same dirt streets of 'Po City that Wheelsup-etc. claims he wandered.

In fact, I knew well when to "smile" and knew the experience of the missed curfew, "chicken on the chest." And I actually won at the martial law, speak-easy casinos. I also learned to recognize MX-BS, since we sometimes frequented the same East End Clubs, et al, where the MX types lavishly spilled the beans while I listened. ;)

We're probably two of the few, if not the only two (maybe a couple of others, now that I think about it) , who know when the streets of the 'Po went from dirt to "pavement" .... :D

Unfortunately, I never got into Sangley, except in the airlines.

(TINS) ... Ever get a FIRE light in-flight and try not to notice it, ....

True story. PanAm flight #01, Haneda to HK leg. After twice dumping fuel/aborting, the pilot announced that MX's could not find out why the #3 engine Fire kept coming on so he was going to fly on to Hong Kong with a the defective sensor, because he KNEW there was no fire and the MX's had given him the "OK". "Position and hold" with engines roaring and wings flapping, Haneda officials refused permission to TO.

Unrelated: Anyone in 'PO the night President Magsaysay died? First rumor was that he had been assassinated in Cebu. Weapons all over 'Po came out, every jeepney driver in town had at minimum a .45 1911. Scary time.

A4s: Never was in 'PO after they paved the streets. Must have been nice!

Three of us. I got to watch some of the side streets being paved, also knew when to smile and how to toss pesos just out of reach of the boats in shit river so that the momentum of the kids reaching would topple the boat, and much more. One of the great advantages of VA-115 (stationed in Japan onboard CVW-5/USS Midway) was to take cross countries in the A6 to the PI when no ships were in port. We had all the CONUS-squadrons' and ships' girlfriends all to ourselves.

Pres. Magsaysay was before my time --- I was a Marcos man --- and speakin' of 1911's, I did see -- literally -- one guy (a black marketeer -- well, actually he wasn't black -- he was Filipino :D) get blown away by some undercover cop right in front of the Zanzibar Club (?) as we were walking by ...... Evidently it was the culmination of some larger take-down and the two of them pulled iron and fired. The undercover cop won. We were about 10-15 yards away (it seemed a lot closer) and one of the guys with us had some "red stuff" on his white polo shirt ....!!!

No slack in Light/Medium attack that night .... Wild West justice, Philippine-style, Olongapo, PI.

But the paved streets WERE a big improvement during the monsoon season ... as the hookers didn't get mud in their high heels. :D
