I hate that guy so damn much. I'm all about shows like that, but I can't stand him.

Can't stand that cockfag "Bear" either - worst survival advice ever.

Are you talking about Survivorman or Man v Wild?

Man v Wild. I hate that show too. The advice he gives is gonna get someone killed someday.

My best example; Bear is in the Colorado Rockies, it's like 40 degrees outside. He decided to hop into a freezing ass river for no other reason than to help him get downstream "faster", he was tired of walking. After a bit, he gets out, then makes a big deal about building a fire before hypothermia sets in. Good tv, bad advice.

I watched a few more episodes to see if other stuff like that happened. It did, and I now tell everyone I talk to to not watch it.

I like watching man vs. wild for the sake of entertainment. Lets face it, the majority of people are no in good enough physical shape to do half the shit he does. How many people can even do 10 pull-ups...let alone climb out of a cave using tree roots as ropes? If I had to guess, I would say very few.

I still think its a good show though...he does some pretty crazy shit. He is an ex SF though so he has that whole "suck it up" kind of mindset. That doesn't really apply to the general population though...but hey, its still good entertainment. I like it a whole lot more than "survivor man"...even though it is much more practical than bear.

That's why I like surviorman better. Yeah, it can be cool to see Bear skydive out of a helicopter, but it seems as if most of his stuff is just for the sake of tv than anything else.

The general public enjoys thinking that someday they may need to apply these 'skills' they 'learned' on the Discovery Channel. Great entertainment value indeed, both survivorman and Man vs. Wild. And yes, its on TV, so we have to take it with a grain of salt (or the whole salt lick in some cases).

The conclusion I've made about nearly all TV these days.

Except maybe chicks playing tennis. Maria Sharapova should be the equiv of required reading I think.

Im not sure he was actually "in" the special forces. I know he did a thing with the SAS it says so in the opening credits but was he actually an SAS member or was that a TV thing he did. I know he did a show with the French Foreign Legion. Either way his show is pretty entertaining and though not all of his stunts are practical for your average Joe survival wise there are things in there that can be helpful should anyone ever have to use them. Thats my two cents.

I like to think I've learned valuable info from Survivorman. He's much more conservative and not so full of BS as Man v. Wild. I think he's pretty bad ass without having to do wacky trash. 7 days with a damn Leatherman, the clothes on his body, and a bag full of camera gear that he can't rape for parts is pretty amazing.

This thread sure did take a left turn.
