Albeit I can see how a father would have an issue with a 20-something guy walking in on his 15 year old daughter...

The original signs in McGuire's, circa late '70's and early '80's, were arrows that simply said MENS and LADIES with the pointer pointing to the other door. Drunk or not, arrow or not, a glance at a one-word MENS sign had 'intrusions' going on all night long in both doors.

It's a bar. Over the years the clientèle has "adjusted" such that more kids are showing up there, but McGuire's has always remained the same. It's a bar...an adult establishment. Yeah, they serve food too, but the bottom line is that it's a bar. No Happy Meals, no free balloons, no insurance against being offended. It's a bar. As a P'cola local, I'm perfectly happy to claim it as "our" bar, just as Molly and McGuire are perfectly happy in claiming all of us (N/MC) as "theirs." It's gonna get loud...likely to be crude...probably going to involve alcohol and attempts to talk members of the opposite sex out of clothing (some successfully...some not so much). I can remember a time growing up when you had to be 18 or they wouldn't serve you (think: '80's). Maybe they should go back to that. I mean, after all, it's not like it's a bar...

Have to say I've been a victim of those signs myself. Pretty shitty those signs have to come down cause it's all in good fun.
