Yeah, talking about how rich or lean the mixture is just increases the variables in engine performance. I'm a fan of tweaking the timing (I learned it the old school way of doing it by ear, freaks the guys out at the auto hobby shop :) ). As for enrichening the mix, I'm not a big fan of that, although it works. I think using a better fuel is the right answer, and then setting the timing to get the best spark advance for the desired rpm running range (i.e., if your motor is more of a dragster than an high-rpm runner, it'll be a different timing btdc).

After that, we're talking about gearing, trans, cfm.....man, now I wanna go take my Jeep apart again!

I can mess with my boost levels, injection timing and amount, and some other parameters with a latop...

I hacked the injection computer on my F-250 (7.3 Diesel) and it works much better with a little less turbo lag.

27 psi boost is a good thing! :D

Diesel engine performance is a whole 'nother ballgame though..

27 PSI on stock internals???
What is stock? That sounds like it has a pretty short life ahead of it.

The biggest thing people will often forget is the stock pump and injectors aren't rated for the massive increases people will try to put them to. They run the engine @ WOT and the mixture leans out burning a hole through a piston or otherwise exploding something that is better off being left intact.

Brett, I could find you your charts/tables. I promise it exists... I just don't really care so much anymore about racing cars so it would take me forever to find it. Not really worth it :) I have had a Silverado for the past 3 years, and there is just about zero function in discussing making that faster, or racing it.

As a longtime Jeep owner, I can relate. ;)

Stock NAVISTAR internals. With 125K so far. 17ish is stock.

Not possible to run a Diesel too lean.

Unless you're this guy....freakin' 148mph on the run, with 8.96secs. I don't know much about drag racing but damn that sounds fast. Plus, he drives it to and from work and around town too.

That rules. There are a couple late model Jeeps around town here that have the Hemi mod. Then there's the Jeep Hurricane. Why settle for one Hemi when you can have two! :D
