This looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. They are boasting some pretty good features though.
Lethality Capability: 20MM High Explosive (Air Bursting) projectiles and 5.56MM Kinetic Energy projectiles
Weapon Length: < 33 in
Weapon Weight: < 12 lbs
Rates of Fire: 20MM - 10 RPM, 5.56MM - equal to M16A2
Range: 20MM - 1,000 meters, 5.56MM equal to or better than M16A2.
Combination 5.56mm and 20mm HE
Single trigger control for both barrels
Ambidextrous weapon and switches
Simple red dot day/night sighting system
Laser adjustment for targets in buildings and in defilade
Unique recoil mitigation and tactical operational awareness

I want one.

From the military.com link:

# Effective range to 1,000 meters

# Full defilade target capability

# Moving target tracking capability

# KE semi two-round burst; HE semi automatic

# Recoil level 1/3 that of the M14

# Ruggedized composite weapon housing

# Separable HE/KE weapons

# Precise target range, automatically communicated to 20mm HE bursting ammo

# Five times more lethal than the M16/M203, at > twice the range

# Rate of fire with KE ammo >850 rounds/min, with HE >10 rounds/minute

# Easily field strippable in under two minutes

# Day/night fire control; weapon interface, iron sight backup

# HE ammo functional modes: airburst, MOUT short arm, point detonation, point detonation delay, and self-destruct

# Laser ranging accuracy ±1/2m out to 500m, ±1m out to 1000m

I would like to see the self-destruct mode in action.

If we're considering that thing, why don't we just take it to the next level and contact this guy:

Strikingly similar.

Imagine the political fallout if we got the Tavor, I mean because killing insurgents with Jewish weapons is just so... wrong

Wasn't the OICW program discontinued? This is like three years ago.

EDIT: Just clicked Nittany's link.

Neat weapon. Quick question, it seems like more and more designers are moving the magazine well to the rear of the weapon and putting the grip farther forward. Does this provide any actual benefits like better balance, or is it more for just looks?

Other than putting the chamber right next to your eyes/face (bad juju in an out-of-battery fire, or a bad round), it does give more barrell length for the same over all length.

That being said, I have never shot a bullpup (the design) with a good trigger.

That being said, I have never shot a bullpup (the design) with a good trigger.

Do you think that's a flaw in the bullpup concept, or is it just that the models you shot had shitty triggers? Surely a weapons engineer could adapt a solid trigger to a bullpup configuration.

Here's the primary design flaw/problem with the trigger.

On most "normal" designs, be it handgun or rifle, the trigger acts directly on the sear (what releases the hammer), or through closely fitted precision parts.

On a Bullpup, the trigger is activated by a linkage, since the lockwork is all back by the chamber (it needs to be, unless you go to electronic ignition, which is a whole nother can of worms) it has to work by a linkage.

The more pivots you have in a system, the more slop you have in the linkage. The more linkages, the more flex you have in the system. Also, each pivot is another point for friction, which can lead to a "gritty" feel in the mechanism..

That is the basics...

You could adapt it to be a better trigger, but the costs of improving the fit and finish to the level required to get the same feel as a less expensive standard is not going to be cheap.
