Wow, just wow. When I see stuff like that it makes me glad I got Mayport instead of San Diego.
For the record, it's not a law - just a bill that will never be passed. That said, CA does have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation.

I'm glad I'm in Virginia, but that still angries up my blood. Everytime I try to explain CA gun laws to my gun-toting buddies out here, they just shake their heads in pity.

If you're moved to Cali by the military, are you required to give up any firearms that don't meet their "standards", i.e. high cap mags and such?
The big one that affected me was the prohibition against the importation of assault rifles into the state. There is a military exemption you can get, but the cost and headache have made me keep mine locked up and disassembled. I honestly don't know about mags specifically, but there are some grandfathering provisions in many of the laws. I think there's some kind of gun safety training requirement just to purchase a handgun which is waived for military folks, so we do get a break to some extent.

Oh yeah, but its the mindset that irks me most. The things they come up with out there sometimes make me wonder. Not that other states don't do it as well.

I just got back from CVW9's Fallon det this past week. While up there, I made it to a gun show in Reno. It was easily the best gun show that I had ever been to. There were about 100X more guns than what they had at the Del Mar gun show (about 15 miles from SD) just a couple of months ago.
The cool thing about the gun show was that it was held in a Casino. At one table you could buy your gun right on the spot. At the next table you could buy as many clips as you wanted. At the next table you could buy all the ammo you could carry. To top it off, there were bars operating in the arena where the show was going on. It was really cool, but it would never happen in California. You damn near have to be a criminal to buy a gun out here.

There is NO, I repeat NO provisions for anyone to bring high-capacity magazines into the state. You MUST have owned them before the ban came into effect. You can NOT transfer them or sell them to another person, they must remain yours, be destroyed, or sold out of state.
CA gun laws suck. MA was restrictive... CA is almost worst in some areas.
