We have a dual NATOPS qual. So all pilots are qualified to physically fly either one. We use them interchangeably for most non combat missions. When it comes to combat missions the F is for ASW and the H is for CSAR, SOF spt, etc.
However, not all pilots are qualified to fly all missions. You have to work through different syllabi to get qualified in different types of missions.
There is really no difference in flying them. Each one has some slightly different intricacies, such as different equipment and a couple switches in different places, but they fly the same. However, the H is slightly less powerful because of the HIRSS.
How much of your flying will be split between the combat missions and the noncombat stuff, and how does the shoreside flying compare to the deployed stuff?
