Weight of Individual Parts of Primary

Does anyone know if the individual NSS weight of each part of Primary is printed anywhere? (e.g. how much weight is carried by your API Grade, Systems Test, CPTs, CBTs, Met Test, EP Test, BI Sims, IR test, FAMs, other individual flights, etc). Is the weight different in each squadron?

p.s. looking for some help answering some questions and not just a "don't worry about your NSS" or "just try your best". Thanks!

API grades and your ground school grades do not count towards your selection. Simpilest way to figure out which blocks count the most is look and see which blocks have the most MIF/TGI.

Sure about that? Typical NSS calculation is 10% ground school. I could be confused with T-45 land though, which was definitley 10%.

Had two different NSS's at the end of primary and advanced... One for flight and one for academics... the only ones that were ever told to me that counted for selections were the flight ones. The other ones were taken into account for things like commodores list.

Different communities, different cases I guess.

Straight from the horse's mouth, was fairly surprised to find out that your Primary NSS actually count's some percentage toward your graduation NSS in Advanced here in Meridian?!

Never heard that. Selection should be based on composite score.

Composite = [(Flight NSS * 0.9) + (Academic NSS * 0.1)] * 4

NSS stands for Navy Standard Score, so each squadron weighs every part the same. If they didn't, it'd be kind of hard to compare everyone when selecting.

PAS=.9[50+10(S-M1)/S1] + .1[50+10(M2-TGI)/S2]

S - Student's Score (Your score divided by MIF)
M1 - Average Score
M2 - Average of Total Graded Items
S1 - Standard Deviation Score
S2 - Standard Deviation of TGI

I guess what I'm really getting at, is not how NSS is computed, but how much does each part weigh? Does Fam 0 count as much as Fam 2. Does the Systems test count as much as CPT 5? ...and so on and so forth....

Nothing counts until BIs. After that...I don't have the slightest clue. Why do you ask?

I ask because nobody seems to know (evident from the wide array of different answers here alone) and lots of people want to.

It would be nice if it were actually in print (official print, that is ;)) somewhere...

don't worry about your NSS & just try your best... :D

Two quotes of wisdom for you:

Try not, fly or fly not, there is no try.

Your best? Losers always whine about their best, winners go fly P-3's!

It's in your master curriculum guide that you get when you get to primary. It says that CPTs and your first 4 fams do not count towards your NSS. Now I feel pretty safe in saying that your API grades do count considering you get a NSS upon graduation from API.
