Few Deployment Pics

Is that about the sight picture for you to refuel? In other words is your aircraft about to connect?

The AR picture on the 1st page answers your question.

Do any Navy 60's have AR capability?

Oops, missed that one sorry. Most Navy 60's do not. I am not sure if the Sierra has/is going to have it.

we're plumbed for it. inside the chin bubble is an opening where a probe could be attached, but I haven't heard a thing about getting one. it could be on a list somewhere below Internal tanks, OAMCM gear, and Armed Helo kits.

E5B -

GREAT shots.

One question, though: What kind of sight picture do you have on short final (i.e., the second picture)? Can you see the load easily prior to being directly overhead? At what point does it competely disappear behind the panel?

From our angle, it looks like you'd lose sight of the load fairly early, but I don't konw what you're seeing through the bubble.

Kbay, we loose sight right as it's coming under the nose then we depend on the Crew Chiefs.

This last pic, is why I want to be a Naval Aviator. Must've been a real sight to see.

That's a lot better than I thought. Good deal.

Does the crew chief con from the Hell hole, or from the door? Doesn't seem like he could see much from the door, and I'm guessing your hell hole is much bigger (and therefore easier to see out of) since dudes can rope from it.

The hell hole. Yes the hell hole is big enough to fall out of, such as what happened to an aircrewman about 9-10 years ago or so during an NVG external training hop around one of the LZs around Lejeune. That's why crew position changes are done on the deck or in a low, stable hover.
