The 249 can still be drum fed I believe. It takes all the same mags as a -16 or -4, so why would it not be able to take some of the drums that they use? I know that it would not be able to use the double drum because that one fits on both sides of the mag insertion channel(?) on the 16 and 4.

The primary / preferred feeding method for the M249 is belt fed from a drum attactment. It can be magizine fed but its a huge pain in the a$$ and turns the SAW into a single shot weapon due to jamming. In most cases the magizine spring is not strong enough to provide rounds to the chamber during auto fire.

In general the SAW is a moody weapon, some days it can fire great whether clean or not and the next day it could jam while clean and in pristine condition. When it is working a great weapon and when its not you better hope you have some great cover while you take it apart.

Nope... it showed as updated since my last visit when I came in. So I clicked into it. We can allow it to die a slow, quiet death all over again.
