01JUN26 SNA/SNFO board

Same boss. My dream would be the 53s but I don't think the Navy is training for those anymore sadly. Realitically, as long as I get to fly, I'll be happy. Although, my Dad is one of the rotorwing sim instructors at Whiting Field, so if I get rotorwing, I wouldn't be mad at all.
Marines still fly 53’s!

I’m certain they read the LORS and motivational statement for competitive scoring applicants; they wouldn’t ask for them just to disregard it. At the very least I would assume they are glancing at who the LOR is from and skimming through your motivational statement to see if it’s substantive towards Big Navy’s mission and not just wanting to fly because it looks cool.

6/6/7 is a competitive score. Don’t overthink it, you got this
They don't unless you have a waiver issue, it is all about picking the people with the best chance of succeeding in the pipeline, the other designators have less rigorous training pipelines and will look at most things, the checklist is used for all designators. We just wouldn't send in LOR's and the motivational statements for my applicants would be 2-3 sentences, a paragraph at most.
I'd assume ASTB is def more important but GPA is also important too
ASTB is weighted significantly more than the GPA.
Your major is also important. Pretty much anything in STEM holds a ton of weight, though I think engineering holds the most.
Nope aviation doesn't care, we would routinely see STEM majors with low ASTB declined, we would also see people with high GPA's and ASTB scores at 5-7 for PFAR get declined while people with GPA's in the low 3's and PFAR 8 or 9 get picked up.

Again it is all about picking those with the best chance of making it through the pipeline.

yeahhhh but surely there's a platform you wanna fly
Growlers are my second choice, mainly just because I like living in the Rockies and that would be the closest to what I leave near now, because I really want to do 18F's but one thing I will constantly miss are the mountains, the appalachians don't count, they're boring, I've been through them. So I'll be sitting there at the beach in Pcola and I know I'll just be like "Damn, this is pretty but it still doesn't compare to the Absaroka's back home". That is the only thing that makes me sad about joining the Navy, but I'm still stoked.
