02 MARCH 2026, SNA/SNFO

That's all I really needed. It was either a document or just a general rule to follow
You want to remember that just because there is a class doesn't mean it is available or available to your designator based on their planning. There could be spots open but not for Aviation, only for SWO, or only for CW based on their follow on school. If AD have access to see what spots show open that also may not be accurate as they often have people penciled in for classes but not yet inputted in the system.

Ok, thanks for the info. Just wanted a general idea of when things happen since it doesn't seem the OCS website gets updated all too often. The last graduation video they have up there is back from April of last year.

I guess one question I do have in relation to a message I made the other day. Is there some sort of calendar of sorts that has all of the the OCS dates planned for a fiscal year that is viewable for anyone in the public?
First class of the FY will be in July, and go from there, every 3 weeks. Like Ex-recruiter said, there could be spots that are available but not for aviation. If you’re ready, I recommend letting your recruiter know that you’ll take the first available spot.

Yeah, I'm probably going to be aiming for a end of the year date or early next year. I just got a job in my hometown, and I want to save up some monies to pay off the small amount of students loans I've got and to just generally save up. May as well enjoy my freedom while I've got it, right?

Congrats everyone I also got the call on Tuesday for SNA, was super confused didn’t even know I was at the board or that this board was even accepting non ISEL. Does anyone know when they changed it from ISEL only?

I just got the call from my recruiter for SNA! I think I have to turn him down though.
Anyone want to help talk me out of it?

I earned my BS in aerospace engineering last year, 200k in loan debt. I did everything to find a job, very rough market, and was forced to consider joining the military. I only applied to the best job, aviator.

8 months go by, finally I get a job offer with Boeing, working on B-52 CERP right now, moving to Phantom Works projects soon. Fucking cubicle office job, but fun defense programs.
Not even 3 months in with this company and my Navy recruiter dangles the pilot slot in front of me...
Initially I applied to the military because I had no other choice.

Long term goals are to work on new liquid rocket engines/advanced propulsion. Maybe conducting tests. I want something more hands-on, less time in the office.

It's hard to find guidance/mentors for this. Thoughts?

Hey dude,

First off you’re in a great position, but I appreciate that having many doors available can be as much a blessing as it is a curse!

Regardless considering that you applied to the military as a last resort rather than chasing a dream, it would appear to me that your current role excites you more? That’s not to say that you wouldn’t develop a love for naval aviation however it’s your life.

Might also be worth considering how you’d feel about deploying and potentially risking your life on ops etc.

Phantom works sounds awesome btw!!!

You could also consider the guard. With a resume like that you’d certainly stand out!

With your background, you could be flying jets as a test pilot and fall back on a Cush defense job when your obligation is up. The office job will always be there for you and you’ll almost certainly regret the choice to not fly when you become an old man (or woman).
This is your choice & one you don’t have to make just yet. Take some time, reach out to different people.

Do you know what the deadline is for a decision? I asked my recruiter and he was hesitant to tell me anything like that. I read something about letters of declination... knowing if it's something I can reapply to later, that would help me get some sleep this weekend!

Before you start signing paperwork honestly haha.
I applied & was selected 2 times but my situation is very different from just declining the commission from the onset. I went to OCS, received a highly recommended to return & it has taken years to get a check to go back.
