Which watch?

…I’m just wondering how dinged up your watches might get in flight school when flying the T6?

I can’t answer to the T-6 but this is how dinged up my beloved 1986 Seiko 6309-7049 got while flying the T-34C, TH-57B/C, and SH-60B. The bezel insert and case took the biggest hits. I purchased my 6309 new at the NASWF NEX during primary.

I didn’t have a nice watch when going through Primary but I’ll say from owning a Pelagos 39 that it scratches if you look at it funny. The clasp especially. Grade 2 titanium is like that.

It’s also so very aesthetically similar to a Rolex Sub. You sure you don’t want to get a GMT watch of some sort?
Id love a GMT for deployments especially. I was thinking a polar dial Explorer 2 for flight school graduation. Is throttle input particularly rough on a watch (Assuming youre wearing it on your left wrist)? Thats kind of why i was anticipating putting a strap on whatever i end up using so i dont ding up the bracelet/clasp too badly.

I have a question for you aficionados.. i want to get something new to take with me to Pcola after OCS. I currently have a Speedy, a Grand Seiko, and a Rolex Sub that i baby but Ive been eyeing a Tudor BB58 or a P39. Im fine with it getting a little scratched up but i obviously dont want to destroy it. Your Speedy on a NATO strap (Tan, OD, Black) would be awesome to wear in Primary. Obviously not waterproof, but it belongs in the cockpit. I don't think it will get banged up - maybe a little "life patina". I wear my Speedy for flight-duties and from walkarounds, to sumping fuel, checking oil and tire pressures -no problem.

Youre absolutely right it does belong in the cockpit. Id also like to eventually expand my collection to include some other pilot watches like a Navitimer and a Cartier Santos, but the Santos might look goofy in a flight suit lol
