1001 questions (and answers) concerning BDCP

Went to the DEERS office today to get my CAC. As i'm second in line, a Sergeant comes out and says the DEERS system is down and most likely won't be up today. Is this a classic military moment that I have plenty more of to look forward to?

Hate to say it but yes this does happen. For future visits you might be able to call ahead and verify the system is working before you drive over.

should I attempt to contact somebody during the weekend or wait until the weekday. Sucks that this happened before I was able to fully sign up for TRICARE
Probably won't reach anyone over the weekend, did you send a text or email? Did you get the "don't get hurt" speech? Sometimes things still happen.

I got my first paycheck from the Navy today at least. Still trying to figure out how to get into this tricare business to reduce further medical expenses as I’m sure the ER I got brought to isn’t gonna be cheap.

sworn in and done all of that except tricare

Let your recruiter know, a text can work for now but follow up if you don’t hear anything on Monday.

For tricare, you need to call and set that up first thing Monday. They should be able to back date your coverage to when you swore in. Also, tell them you were admitted to the ER and expect a bill from XX hospital.

Tell XX hospital, mainly hospital admin or billing you just started a new job (Navy) and getting new insurance, but coverage is expected to be back dated. More times than not they are aware / will work with you on this.

Sucks the situation but not end of the world, at least for now.
