Thank you for the clarifications and explanations, elariosa95. Yes, perhaps I'm panicking. I'll read and relax some.I’ll try answer some of these in order
1) It is HIGHLY recommended that you show up to OCS with physical copies of all medical records you can get your hands on; flash drives are not authorized for use on gov’t computers (shoutout to Cyber Awareness Challenge 2025). If you don’t have a specific record on hand, you can request use of your cell phone to call someone who has it or you can use your CAC to access the computers in the rooms and email if you can.
2) There are medical liaisons at OCS who schedule appointments and work with the medical officers of each class to get people where they need to go. Anything medical related typically comes from them
3) Yes, there are flight surgeons in Newport. They administer the initial flight physical when classes check into OCS and submit the paperwork for each aviation candidate
4) If someone needs to stay longer for their waiver, they’ll be sent to student pool until their waiver is approved and they’re medically cleared. Liberty during the week usually starts around 1400, but weekend liberty typically starts around noon on Friday IIRC and goes until Sunday evening/Monday morning. Leave is also available to take if you want to get out of Newport for a little
5) If I remember correctly, I had to get tested for the same thing because of my past sinus infections. The ENT specialist administering my test was in Boston so I got pulled out of training for the day to road trip there lol. Because it’s military, TRICARE takes care of it; I didn’t pay a single cent for any of my tests, appointments, prescriptions, etc.
Also, many thanks to Mouselovr; I read many relevant posts that make things a lot more clear, but still have much to absorb.
And, because I write reports, sometimes for the government, I'm still wondering about the meaning of N3M. Can someone clear that up?
Thanks again.
