Lots of commentary here and elsewhere pointing out (correctly) that the US provides basing and some direct training for foreign militaries. Yes, of course. What might be a little different here is that the partner nation gave the Commander in Chief a luxury aircraft as a personal gift.....
Yeah, something about this just hits differently. I haven’t put my finger on it yet, but I definitely don’t trust the Qataris.
I wouldn’t scratch at that feeling too much. The deal to buy the fighters was struck in 2017 and the training location assessment was completed in 2022.
In regards to the debate between Huntington and Fukuyama, an excellent article in Foreign Policy:
As the old order lies dying, the central question gripping international relations today is the nature of the new order struggling to be born. And I’d also argue Fukuyama wasn’t necessarily wrong, he will just never be right.
Lots of folks like to reference End of History as some kind of punchline... few have read it and understand Frank's argument.
