15 SEP2025 SNA/SNFO BOARD

Did you say that they accelerate you through NIFE if you have your private?
There’s 2 phases of Nife 4100 block and 4200 block. There are 4 flights in the 4100 block and if you have your ppl you only have to do this. If you don’t have your ppl you will do both blocks. The 4200 block has 3 flights. The last flight of each block is a checkride. The flights are not terribly difficult. You’ll takeoff, do 4 different maneuvers, and do pattern work. Sometime during the flight you’ll get hit with an EP and have to give the proper checklist actions.

From a recruiter standpoint the ones DQ by NAMI from my district while at OCS were often due to depth perception, nearly all were ones who didn't pass DP at MEPS, then would find a civilian doc to administer a DP test, passed, and submitted those results to go to board for SNA.
This is great info. Thank you.

Anyone know if during OSC medical (flight physical) they compare your MEPS medical?

Reason I ask, is I think MEPS messed up & gave me 20/20. When I'm actually 20/30, according to 3 civilian optometrists I've seen (still within SNA limits), I just don’t want NAMI to think my eyes quickly deteriorated in like 4months… then disqualify me.

Any insight would be appreciated

Even if you went from 20/20 to 20/40 in 4 months which could be a world record you’d still be good

What sort of NSS do you need to go maritime like yourself? I’m assuming that’s a competitive platform
Technically speaking, there's no NSS requirement for maritime. I got a 46, which my friend told me was the lowest he had heard so far of everyone we know here lmao. Like I said, NSS isn't necessarily a reflection of pilot performance; I got 2 below MIF items throughout all of primary (both definitely my fault), but was getting pretty solid grade sheets for most of it

All of your medical records will be available for review.
