sTUPID qUESTIONS aBOUT ocs

Hello all,

this is a specific questions, but has anyone been recently accepted to OCS for Supply with an education waiver? I am currently in a dilemma because I have finished 2 math courses during college but one of them is a C and I was wondering if there is any hope in getting in despite having a waiver for that.

Check out the different supply corps board threads, you can browse and possibly find your answer there.

Hey guys quick dumb question but how would you describe the process and logistics that occur after getting the call you got accepted for OCS to actually showing up on the first day? Also, how does it work if you plan on flying to OCS? Yeah I know I can ask my recruiter these questions but I will probably forget the next time I speak with him haha.

So write it down to remind yourself and take notes.

I can only really speak to what my process was like, but it should give you some idea.

Timeline:
- Selected SNA on OCT22 board. My recruiter asked me to do a mock PRT and weigh in to see where I was at physically. I was in the worst shape of my life physically, so this could’ve gone better.
- Recruiter informs me that I probably will ship out around June or July, so I use that time to get fit.
- March 2023: I get a call from my recruiter saying there’s an open spot in the 05MAY23 OCS class and that I could get in if I were ready to; I give him my blessing and he gets the paperwork ready.
- Mid-April 2023: I run an actual PRT to determine if I’m physically ready to head to Newport. I get Good Medium/Good High on everything and I get the OK to go. I also sign a bunch of paperwork and get copies of everything.
- Last week of April 2023: I inform my employer of my intentions to join the Navy and submit my resignation letter. I swear in the next day and start packing up my apartment to go home before I leave. My recruiter has given me an official letter to give to my landlord stating I need to break my lease early because of my service commitment and official orders to OCS.
- Sometime around then: my recruiter also books me tickets from the airport near my parents’ place to Providence, RI. I don’t check in until the next day after I land, so I have to book a room at the NGIS near the main gate at NAVSTA Newport. I keep my receipt so I can be reimbursed for it.
- The Friday before my check in date: my parents drive me to the airport, say goodbye, and send me on my way to Newport. I take a taxi from Providence to Newport and check in to my room. I get dinner at the Italian place right outside the gate and watch a movie.

And the rest is history. I apologize if that was lengthy, but it should more or less give you an idea of what to expect from the process. If you have any questions, you can reach out to me, but your recruiter would be the best person to ask.

Side note: when traveling to Newport, make sure you keep your receipts. You’ll be reimbursed for the hotel and taxi, so make sure to hold on to those

If i plan on driving to Newport, do they reimburse gas/tolls?

Not sure, I want to say yes but I honestly don’t know. That would be a recruiter question.

If you drive, you should be able to park on base too. They let people go start their cars every few weeks, you just have to make sure your candios know so they can ask the class team for permission to take you there
