I had no waivers but was never given the choice, didn’t even know about it. I kind of moved fast I transitioned from reserves to active 10 days before the board deadline.
It isn't a different route if you qualify for ISEL then NRC should process you for ISEL whether you know it or not.

Does your recruiter let you know based on your stats right before sending your package or the NRC determines everything even you met all the required stats for ISEL? Do you get notified before the convene date if you qualify for ISEL?

Your recruiter should have advised you, or maybe since it is only a month prior to board he didn't think it was necessary, or due to the nearly 100% selection rate he again didn't think it was necessary. You could find out before the board or the same time, either way you have an excellent shot so no need to worry.

Took me a while to find this thread. Awaiting results as well here are my stats.

21M
OAR: 48 (was originally going reserves which does not need OAR so only had 5 days to study to make deadline)
BS International relations 3.5
LOR from RADM (O-8 ret.), Maj. Gen (O-8 ret.).

originally wanted Intel but my OAR didn’t make the cut but I’m very happy with SWO. If I want the flexibility of lateral transferring to let’s say FAO it’s better to be an unrestricted line officer.

Also how is everyone prepping for OCS?
Dude your stats look strong, I'm a little worried now. May we both see each other in Rhode Island.

i’ve been getting confused by dates because my recruiter told me Aug. 11 and my friend who also applied to SWO did too but my stats.

24M
44 OAR (i did not study, literally took it same day i met with the recruiter and he recommended not taking it again)
BS Biochemistry 3.3 GPA
LOR: Current manager and ex-manager (he was an air force officer but i don’t remember his rank).

my recruiter actually wanted me to apply to NUPOC which I was hesitant because i don’t have any engineering background but I was pre-screened and denied for my major which i expected. i always came in wanting SWO.

also, did anyone fill out a PSSQ? my recruiter made me fill it out a couple weeks ago. hopefully that’s a good sign.

I filled out the PSSQ as well. NUPOC is in demand rn but basically nobody qualifies for it unless you actually went to ROTC for NUPOC. Aug 1st is the deadline to submit the packet for the September 2nd board.

NUPOC is always in demand for subs.

As has been discussed on another thread NUPOC is just 1 year of Calc & 1 year of Calc based Physics, about 1/3 to 1/2 of those that go into the NUPOC program don't come from USNA/NROTC but the normal college route.

Qualifying for the program is the easy part as long as you have B's or greater in those 2 course series and have a good overall GPA, the first hurdle is passing the NR academic screening, then it is passing the pre-tech interviews, then it is passing the tech interviews and finally the Admiral's interview.

One of the difficulties people have is if they completed those 2 series but haven't used it in a few years, and that goes not just for non-tech majors but tech majors too.

i came in for SWO but when he saw my college transcript for Biochemistry he saw i took up to Calc II and Physics. unfortunately the Physics required for my major was Physics for NSM majors. i think that’s what disqualified me because the pre-screen did say denied because of major. nonetheless, i did get my hopes up for a bit haha.

he told me NUPOC applicants didn’t require the OAR so while i initially met with him, we started the NUPOC packet but i BEGGED to just take the OAR so i could get it over with just in case i did have to go the SWO route too and also kind of just see how it was in cased i failed failed i would know how the test was like.

nonetheless, im still excited for SWO. i have been physically preparing myself since the beginning of this year and have already lost 40 lbs (i’m a bigger guy but 6’5). the only thing i failed at MEPs was they found out i had astigmatism, which i’ve already signed a waiver for and has been cleared.

How come you are not going for the Cyber Warfare board? I'm trying to study for it but the stuff is hard. Also what does Pro-Rec-Y mean?
Well. I thought about MCWO, but I ultimately decided to go the route of Cryptologic Warfare and apply to the August IWC board. The reason is that CW deploys way more than MCWO, is adjacent to Cyber, and I can potentially be a direct support officer for submarines doing SIGINT or EW, but honestly, any platform would be cool haha. (1st CW, 2nd SWO)

PRO-REC-Y means you were selected.
