Stupid questions about USCG Aviation

Does the Coast Guard pipeline differ that much from the Navy pipeline post-OCS? I've heard of Coast Guard students doing a night solo in IFS but don't really know if they have the same A-pool times or OHARP.

Here's my stupid question about USCG air: What is the status of the legacy HC-130s versus the HC-130J? Is the USCG still flying HC-130Hs from some locations or is the transition to the J complete?

As of last summer, they only had one H model left in operational use. The rest were in a support role and a bunch of them are being sold to CAL FIRE. I’d assume all the operational ones are the J model now.

That's great news. 👍 It seems like the Coast Guard is always last on the list for new aircraft.

I know my Coasties take a lot of flack from active duty people, But as I keep tell the youngsters on other sites they are out there doing real world missions every day. Nothing but respect for them from this old Air Wing Marine.
