A good example of why to have carbon monoxide detectors in your house

So I was browsing Reddit in an HVAC forum and a guy posts a thread saying he removed a wall in his bathroom to re-tile the shower and found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/hvacadvice/s/DBlmbOw56m

Basically that is venting carbon monoxide into his house (or at least the portion inside the wall). He says he has CO detectors in the bedrooms and he and his family clearly aren't dead or the house burned down but yikes.
