Hi all, newish here. Currently looking into commissioning for the Navy Reserve. I am in my last year of Army contract as a warrant officer and have been looking into the other branches Reserve/Guard side due to the current state of Army aviation and the restructure. That being said, does anyone have any information for aviators of other branches commissioning/competing for an aviation slot under PA 206? I've reached out to a Reserve Officer recruiter a few days ago and don't want to bother them on leave so I figured I'd reach out here to see if anyone has gone through this. I'm still open to commissioning active duty, but I keep getting told I'm not eligible per PA 106. PA 106 is a little muddy regarding warrant officers. Also, I'm working on my masters and looking into commissioning with the Navy regardless for some different programs that are tied to the aviation community. So eventually, I'd still like to commission with the Navy, it's just more of when it happens.

You are ineligible for active duty / PA 106. It’s cut and dry, no prior commissioned service.

You may be eligible for Reserve / PA 206, there’s a section on warrant officers.

Assuming you have any warrant service above grade W-1, then yes, you're out of luck on PA 106.

It's been noted on this board in the past that aviation has some tight career milestones, and that if you start even a couple of years more senior, you can easily find yourself behind the curve, so that's probably the motivation behind this.

Welp. It is what it is. Anyone know someone that has successfully been picked up via PA 206? A lot of reservists I've worked with have been former AD Navy.

I personally haven't, however it doesn't mean it happens. I would personally recommend you contact the Reserve Officer Community Manager (URL covers aviation) and discuss eligibility, other options if not eligible, etc. Get the answer/s straight from the source.
