I think we're at the point where if President X said he liked cheese on his hamburgers that 43% of the population would be enthusiastic supporters and 43% would be scheduling a day of outrage.

I have gone from actively following politics to purposely avoiding coverage in the last 10 years.

I'm not quite there yet, but I'm very close to actually not caring either way. Post heart attack, I've gone out of my way to have zero emotional involvement in anything I can't influence.
Minus the heart attack this where I’m basically at.

I never said American citizens could replace all undocumented workers. I am arguing for an end to an immoral practice of taking advantage of a black market labor pool. In doing so wages would rise to a market rate that would tap a larger pool of legal labor willing to work at market rates. A one for one trade, no. That is not my argument. Having clarified that, could you clarify your position? Simply because such a large percentage of agricultural workers are undocumented, are you suggesting guest worker/ legal status and market wages isn't beneficial to society or the ag industry?
I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I thought you were implying that there is a pool of citizen labor here that can offset migrant labor. Whether that migrant labor is here legally, or not, doesn't negate their need. That distinction is a failure of our politicians to get behind any number of bipartisan initiatives. The current immigration enforcement on work sites and HomeDepot day laborers is political theater. I was told that we were going to deport the ones "eating the dogs, and eating the cats"
