I thought it was cool that some of the costs were defrayed by sponsors like Coinbase, Palantir and the UFC, then getting shout outs from the video screen at the reviewing stand. Also, soldiers along the route passing out cans of Dana White's new energy drink for free. /s

Nobody cares what Fox News thinks about the event either.
6600 soldiers actively serving in uniform got to take a work vacation to the nations capital, a lot of them got to waive to their family’s on national television, we put on a days events that serves as both a recruiting mechanism and a way to bridge that gap between the 1% that serve and the people who don’t have exposure to the military. But political opponents and people like you have to find/manufacture things to be upset about that and act like it’s your duty to remind us all how bad this is.

No one is arguing the Army was planning a parade that served as a celebration for them, a recruiting tool and a chance for the public to interact with the military. Most of us though are not blind to know that Trump wanted this to be about him, and to inflate his ego.

Dude the bone spur thing is so tired when the last president was also a draft dodger.
I was pleasantly surprised to see his speech however actually focused on the Army and not himself. I didn’t think he would have had the discipline.
Speaking of which, we haven’t really gotten many vet nominees for POTUS in recent elections, and the vet candidates often lose in either the primary or general.

2004 was the last election where both major party nominees were vets, and both candidates tried to downplay the other candidate’s service records in that race.
Both VP candidates in ‘24 served, which is nice to see, but again their service records were questioned throughout the campaign.
