Hello everyone I am wanting to become an officer in the navy. I am taking my OAR this Wednesday and building my packet. However on my record I have 2 misdemeanors for possession and 1 misdemeanors for assault of a family member. All charges were dismissed. To clarify I have never been convicted. How much will this affect my chances of getting into ocs?

I have a degree in professional studies 2.6 gpa
3 minors in
Business management
Computer programming
Entrepreneurship

91 ASVAB score

I’m very surprised an officer recruiter is even willing to work with you, between the low GPA and criminal record - especially the last one. Navy recruiting goes off initial charges in terms of legal waivers, especially because recruiting as well as all of us here know how the legal system and getting a good lawyer can help out.

I’m gonna go ahead and say your odds are very very slim for officer.

I didn’t hire a lawyer for any of my cases. The judge for the last one found out my father didn’t want to press charges and threw the case out. I know on paper I am not the ideal candidate however I have been to meps and seen the people processing. I am without a doubt of a higher caliber. I went to BYU for college and have good values. If you could put a percentage chance on it what would you say? I am thinking about just enlisting

I get second chances and all but you have not one but three blemishes on top of a low GPA. I would be more sympathetic if it was simply one and you turned it around with an amazing GPA.

The court documents would say he didn't want to pursue charges, unfortunately for you that doesn't mean you didn't do it.

This will be a very long shot.

I know the navy is in dire need of people in general so I am hoping the need is that great. I saw they are pushing back boards from lack of applicants.

Not really accurate, SWO has very high acceptance due to some not great board selectioning last year.

Supply is very selective, for the longest time if you had any waiver it was a no

If you do great on the ASTB aviation might overlook past issues.

So your saying if I get a 50+ on the OAR I have a chance?
