Russian doctrine today, does not require, nor emphasize air superiority.
Are you inferring this by their apparent inability to establish air superiority in Ukraine, or do you have some insight into Russian doctrine?

Russian doctrine today, does not require, nor emphasize air superiority. Instead driving an air d defense environment that makes air operations unfeasible. Artillery, armor, and infantry are their paths to victory - or defeat - and our support of UKR in this package seems to reflect that reality.
Appreciate it, thank you!

For what it’s worth, I think it might also be that Patriot is awesome. I saw a podcast or YouTube with a US Army SSG talking about it. He kept stopping himself to prevent giving out classified info, but he was VERY confident it could shoot down anything out there, and that the constraint would be expense/production. Also, I believe sometimes it might take two or three missiles on one target to succeed. So if you’re the opposition you say “intercept rate us only 95%” or whatever, but if you have enough the success rate is 99% (made up numbers, hopefully you get the point).

He also had a good explanation for the own-goal/boomerang videos out there. I’ll try to find and link it, but his enthusiasm made me a believer in patriot.

Literally no one credible is going to confirm or deny this statement on this forum, so why bother? Further, it's silly to take the word of an E-6 about the greater tactical and operational capes of a system as opposed to what he/she is a SME on, which is their own small piece of the puzzle. If one of my LPOs had an opinion on what needed to be done by our shop to get a jet up, I'd be all ears. But if they wanted to opine on Prowler tactics or worse, the operational level of war, that'd be absurd. This is a case of "those who talk don't know, and those who know can't talk."

I'll take the hit Nittany, but Brett is right. Army SSG was a Patriot operator, didn't give anything away, but his confidence in Patriot made me confident in Patriot. I could have been clearer with fewer words. I'm happy to say or learn Russian stuff sucks, but sometimes our stuff is really good.

Russia really hyped up the Kinzahl along with a few others but in reality it is not much more than an SS-26 modified to be fired by MiG-31's, so while a capable system it is by no means the wunderwaffe 'wonder weapon' that Putin hyped it to be.

As for the Patriot, it is a capable system that has improved considerably over the years but like any weapon system it has its goods and bads and can't shoot 'anything out there', that is why we also have systems like THAAD and GBI's. He hit the nail on the head about numbers though, quantity certainly does have a quality all its own.
