Question: does anybody know if students with families are on accompanied orders during the 27 weeks of Supply School ?

Why didn't you ask any of these questions during your three interviews? A big chunk of a professional interview is to field career-specific questions about the Supply Corps community.

I've seen some interviewers give not-so-favorable remarks on the interview sheet because the applicant didn't bother asking questions even though it was encouraged. They took the interview as if the applicant just wants to "boost" his chances of getting selected and not truly experience an opportunity to talk to someone in the community for 15-20+ years.
Hello, I'm following this conversation as I am in the process of applying for a Supply Officer position. As I am going through this process, there were no interviews for me. Am I missing something that would enhance my package to the board?

There’s a thread dedicated to what’s considered competitive for Supply.

I'm curious about this as well. Found this post in an old thread from back when BQC was in Athens, not sure if the situation changed since moving to Newport.

Housing
On base housing is very limited at NSCS. Students with dependents can find out about the availability of housing by contacting the housing office. Those without dependents should expect to live off base. While they should still contact the housing office before arranging their residence, the primary service the office can offer to such students is advice on where to find housing out in town.

Also, I assume that normal BAH applies during BQC if you're living off base?

I went through as a Reservist and met/hung out with some of AC students. I believe it is the same, they all lived off-base in Newport.

To answer the couple of questions as someone who went through the training pipeline last year: 1) Yes, you receive BAH for your rank and dependents-status and live off base - none of the students live on base. And, 2) those with families were able to travel with them on their orders.

My daughter-in-law will be going off to OCS soon then on to Supply School. My son will stay in his home state during OCS, but was planning on going to RI during Supply School.
My question is: is it possible to find affordable housing in that area that will also accept 2 large dogs, one of which is usually on restricted breed lists? Searching on-line it seems houses/apartments are very expensive and most do not allow dogs. PLEASE tell me places like this exist and how to find them so I don't have to keep the dogs here!!!!

It will be difficult, I remember having sailors working for me that had difficulty finding places when they owned dogs in general. I came close to having to deal with this as my daughter who will be moving out in the next year or so wanted to get a large dog, one of the things I said she needed to do is find places where she could potentially move to when the time came that would accept the dog she wanted to get, for the most part she struck out with the exception of a few places that were "sketchy" so she is now waiting until sometime in the future as I don't want to be stuck with her dog if she can't find a place.

I wish you the best as I imagine this is stressful for you.

Just sent in my application so I'm doing some research on possible Supply billets. My goal is to go to law school (hopefully through LEP but I don't know if that's common for SUPPO) and do JAG later on, but currently just wanting to know about life within Supply Corps. One of the cool billets I saw was with Seabees, and I saw some old stuff that said it's not typically the one that a lot of people choose. Can anyone speak to this? Or personal recommendations on billets?

As a brand new Ensign supply officer, you're not going to have much choice in where you're assigned.

I had heard after Supply school new ensigns compete for the billets available based on ranking, even if you choose one as preference is it still pretty much "needs of the Navy" then?

This is fairly accurate, but for ENSs going active coming out of Supply School chances are you're going to be on a ship or a sub.

Seabees usually have 2 Supply Officers, 1 as Suppo and 1 as the Assistant Suppo. Also, Seabee Suppo billets are not common.

Ok...do you want this boat or that boat? #1 choose, #2 you get the other.
