I guess I could ask you the same question

I find your comments regardless of your background pretty disrespectful. Much like the rest of us - Tillman knew what he was getting into when he signed up. Diminishing his service regardless of the unfortunate media circus surrounding his death does not win you any brownie points.

How is it disrespectful? I didn't say anything bad about Tillman. In fact, I look up and admire him. Doesn't change the fact surrounding his death that he was killed due to poor leadership and friendly fire then it got covered up and they treated his family poorly during the cover up. Then made his funeral into a circus with John McCain and Maria Shriver showing up to parade around.

Read his auto-biography by Jon Krakauer. Its a good read and very insightful.

Tillman would be absolutely disgusted by what happened. He also didn't agree with the Wars once he participated in them.

Yea. And look where it got him. Killed by fratricide.

I have refrained from participating with respect to your posts for several reasons, foremost being that I am so far removed from being in the military that my opinions are not as well informed as I would want them to be. Secondly, I don't really have the time to devote to well crafted responses or rebuttals. That being said, your comment struck a nerve.

Fuck you.

I'm sure you meant that to be disrespectful, and try as I might, I couldn't not respond. I could care less what Pat Tillman's politics were, or who chose to use his death to make political points for their side. He didn't start a charity, or go visit troops in the off season, he joined the Army and went to the 75th Ranger Regiment, knowing there was a 100% chance he was going in harms way.

Saying he died because of poor leadership in a firefight is uncalled for and compeletely unwarranted. I highly doubt his leaders wanted that outcome to occur and had to make some tough decisions that day. You’re an armchair quarterback and I can tell that regardless of your experience you haven’t had to make a decision in a firefight nor understand the fog and friction of combat. Those who have speak in a very different tone and not as a cavalier or nonchalantly as you do.

Discuss the politics behind it or that controversy by all means, but you weren’t there and don’t understand the mindset and circumstances going through a Infantryman’s mind in that situation. So do everyone a favor and just stop talking. You’re a former corpsman and intel officer. Stay in your lane.
