Who Is Going To NSI In Feb?

OneBadSSS

FY08 STA-21 Pilot Selectee/Currently at ODU
Yes if you are going to Boost then that is when we are supposed to report.

BOOST OPTION: REPORT TO NAVAL EDUCATION AND
TRAINING CENTER, NEWPORT, RI TO REPORT NET 0700 AND NLT 0900,
BASED ON YOUR CLCVN DATE FOR BOOST SCHOOL.

Because our Repot NLT date is the 16th, however the NSI only guys Report NLT date is the 17th and this is what their orders tell them to do.

NSI: REPORT TO NEWPORT RI NLT 0700, BASED ON YOUR CLCVN DATE FOR
8 WEEKS TEMDUINS FFT NROTC.

I hope this clears up any confussion.

Cool thanks, saves me from having to find my orders tonite to check! So is it safe to assume that we ARE going to be "cut loose" after we check in until the morning of the 19th (since the 18th is a holiday)?

During my 8 1/2 years in the U.S. Navy, I've learned one thing: it is never safe to assume :icon_tong

Report to NSI/BOOST no later than midnight prior to the designated Monday at the King Hall Quarter Deck where you will receive further instructions.
Thank you, that clears it up for me.

ELT (SS)... I'm not going to be checking in until around mid afternoon. I'm driving up from NYC that morning (~3.5 hrs).

Finally checking out of my command this morning. Unlike I think alot of you all on here... I'm not having to move anything.. and I took most of Jan off for leave.. so... appointment with XO, then CO, then c-ya Recruiting.. FOREVER!!!

I know that we are allowed to have a laptop (even though we're provided computers in each rooms) while at BOOST/NSI, but is there going to be WiFi or a cat5 drop that we can use to get online?

Yes, New England winter is more freaking miserable than I remember it! I was up under my truck yesterday working on it in 40 degrees and sunshine and all of the sudden the temp dropped 20 degrees and a snow squall came rolling through!

Anyways, you still planning on following what our orders say and checking in bewteen 0700 and 0900 on Saturday? I'm trying to decide if I want to do that or wait because I don't want to get stuck there for the rest of the weekend if they don't allow us to leave and just report back Tuesday morning...

It isn't boot camp. They aren't going to make you check in then hold you there. Relax haha. BOOST is cake.

Its not moist and delicious.
There is cake, they just used baking soda instead of flour, salt instead of sugar and the cake has a 20 degreee angle on that was fixed with extra frosting on the low corner, since there wasn't any frosting mix left it is actually jelly with corn starch in it. So don't say there is no cake, it exists, but it is never as good as you think it is going to be.

And what are all of these shenanigans about reporting on Saturday between 7 and 9. Where does it say that? Pretty sure I have NET saturday but NLT sunday, and I plan on getting there Sunday in the p.m. By the way, for everybody driving, and even those that are flying and also worry too much, the weather out there friday and saturday is supposed to be F'ed. They aren't sure if it is going to rain/snow/sleet or a combination of the above pretty much from Maryland to Maine, so it is going to take a little extra time. If you are flying there is not too much they can do, unless you are flying your own plane, then being late is your fault.

Nope, and do not under any circumstances try to jerry rig your laptop on the network...this is how people get dropped from the program. The closest WiFi is at the base E club.

I don't really see the point of bringing your own laptop if they are supplying us with computers anyways. Unless you have to change your Ipod playlists every day or you are a porn fiend and have your entire harddrive jam packed with smut! :D
