Airport Bum
If you want to get your run time down, you need to work your cardiovascular limits. Don't only run, run stairs sometimes, swim some, do trail runs with hill climbs, go cycling. all these things will help your run time. i'm a D1 college swimmer and i didn't run 2 months before i took my PFT and i ran a 17:40. so...you can do it without running a ton, just be in good shape. if you can keep your self from being out of breath after half way, you will be able to run fast. As for being a college athlete... you better get on it fast..talk to you coach, ask them what it takes to make the team, get them to suggest workouts. college athletics is hard, and you will hate it some of the time. Be prepared to be exhausted, and be pushed harder than ever.
