From what I've gathered, the process from Pro-Rec to OCS is something like:
  • Pro-Rec
  • Wait
  • MEPS
  • Wait
  • N3M
  • Security Clearance
  • Wait
  • Final Select Letter
  • Wait
  • OCS
Is that pretty much the gist of it? Are the any steps I'm missing? Thanks

It's not set in STONE! If it's worthwhile... it's worth waiting for.

I get that nothing is guaranteed. More just curious if I knew what all the steps are.

Roger, obviously you know (or should know), what the steps are... it's all those "Waits" in between that seem to be bothering you. Waits can sometimes be estimated in the short term, but things are very unstable in Naval Aviation right now, and we all have to be patient and [flexible]. Those wait times will vary.;)

haha, my tone must have not come through in my writing
As much as I'd like those waits not to be there, I get that the reality is that there is time I'll just be waiting for a piece of paperwork to cross someone's desk.
Thank you. Here's hoping for shorter waits :)

It doesnt have to necessarily follow that order but yeah that seems about right.....however you did forget "swear-in" after you get your FS and then start the trip to OCS. Just make sure you do something to keep you busy and out of trouble/productive while you wait. And BZ is right....its definitely worth it.

OCS will be here before you know it though.

Is the swearing in another trip to MEPS, or is that done at the recruiter's office?
Thanks.

That's done however you want it to go....for us the enlisted guys got sworn in at MEPS. Officers did not.

I was thrown a going away party in Denver at this bar I was a bouncer on the weekends at and swore in before the party actually kicked off, with my recruiter and friends watching. It was pretty sweet.

This was my experience
Pro Rec: May 1
MEPS: May 9
FS: June 11
Swore In: June 15

As long as you have no issues with medical and don't require a waiver the process moves along rather quick.

What about after OCS? The steps from OCS to API are unclear to me.

Same here.. I've looked all over the internet and can't find a thing. I guess it is just one of those things that you learn along the way but it would be nice to know ahead of time.

Mine was something like this:

  1. MEPS - Dec 2011
  2. Application went in for April 2012 board
  3. BUPERS Interview - May 2012
  4. Pro-Rec - June 2012
  5. FinSel - July 2012
  6. Swear in - July 2012
  7. OCS - Sept 30th 2012
To summarize, yes that's about the order it goes.
