BZ to the flight crew. Great headwork.

Pilot/reporter Jon Scott on FOX... I'm paraphrasing... "These things can glide a long ways without power. A 747 can glide 15 miles for every 1000 feet of altitude." That's a glide ratio of approximately 80:1!:icon_rage

Wish I'd had one of those instead of a Schweitzer 1-26...

The flight crew should not have to buy another beer for as long as they live after that. Holy crap. What a piece of airmanship.

And armada1651, +57 and thanks for the new signature.

Definitely BZ to the pilots. What a perfect ditch! Definitely heroes and quite a display of airmanship....and BZ to the flight attendants. Apparently, the passengers were amazingly calm as well.

CNN is reporting pilot (captain) was former AF fighter pilot.

Wish I'd had one of those instead of a Schweitzer 1-26...

Not even my Discus does as well as that 747...
