Not sure if anyone else caught the show on TNN Wednsday night after the weekly showing of TopGun. It was filmed 8 months ago in Kingsville (mostly). They feature four or five nuckleheads and show the work up process for das boat. I found it 'gay, to quite gay' (any Meet the Parents fans out there) only because I know most of the guys and was laughing my socks off at them trying so hard to be cool. You can probably go to the TNN website and find out when they'll be showing it again, if at all. It may be interesting for some.

If you get a chance to watch it, the 45s with the black B on the tail are the JV team (Kingsville) - or simply the "B" team. The real superstars, unfortunately, went with out much fan fare, they were the ones flying the 45s with the white A on the tail - the varsity squad [8D]

There aren't any C's in Kingsville yet. Someone was telling me it was better to CQ in a 45 A because you didn't have the velocity vector to use as a crutch.

Honk if you demand satisfaction.

First of all, the velocity vector isnt a crutch. It is, granted, nice to have around the approach turn but once in the groove it does not prove that useful. You will hear some guys, hornet guys mostly, talk about placing the velocity vector in the 'crotch' and then just holding it there, all the way to a rails OK 3 wire. Well, thats all well and good but it only actually works that one atmospheric Standard Day out of the calender year.

Second, I think 14 months to learn/fly two aircraft is pretty good.

Third, while there is no velocity vector or even a hud for that matter in the prowler - the cockpit is not as old school as one might think. The older Block 82 have LCD displays in the cockpit for HSI and Attitude reference. The newer model Block 89A have a 3 Ring laser gyro/GPS system nearly identical to that of the T-45C - including waypoints on the digital HSI in the cockpit. Makes those low-levels a blast. Now if we could trade some NFOs for gas.

Easy Jack, without them you wouldn't be able to talk on the radio, or work the nav system, or get clearance and ATIS because you weren't taught how to do all that. Oh wait, Yeah you WERE!!

Oh BTW, if any of you see that TNN thing, don't think that all of the jet guys grow that queer porn star looking mustach. That is a JV "B" team thing too. Don't be that guy!

That is certainly what many of our two anchor colleagues would have us think[}:)]
