Below is a pic from 1986 when 46's were actually dark green in color. Kalamazoo was an oiler but they also brought us many other goods during the unreps. Hope you enjoy the pic.

sent to me a few years ago from a buddy of mine.

Starting off as a shoe before lat xfr to aviation I will never forget a certain bridge watch off the coast of Haiti. Buddy of mine was the OOD when we saw a waterspout dead ahead of us but still several miles off. He kind of freaked out and called the CO about the impending danger. After a couple "yes sir, yes sir"s, he hung up the phone. I asked him what the CO said. His response was simple: "Turn"

100316-N-4774B-598 STRAIT OF MAGELLAN (March 16, 2010) Capt. Dom DeScisciolo, commanding officer of the guided-missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill (CG 52), follows a local tradition by tossing a ship's coin to a statue of the Virgin Mary in appreciation of a safe transit of the Strait of Magellan. The strait is considered a challenging route to navigate because of the unpredictable winds and currents, and the narrowness of the passage. Bunker Hill is supporting Southern Seas 2010, a U.S. Southern Command-directed operation that provides U.S. and international forces the opportunity to operate in a multi-national environment. That Captain must have a good arm if he indeed hit that statue.

This baby is currently docked at NAB Little Creek, and its pretty impressive in person. I didn't even know what the hell it was till now.

Stiletto has been at Sea-Air-Space for past three days; open for tours and evening rides along the Potomac. Heading to Pax on Thursday and will be at my "toyshop" in advance of static display on 19th. PM me for access. She will be crown jewel of Blue Dragon, an Interagency Maritime Operational Threat Response Exercise/Experiment 11-22 October "produced by" OSD Rapid Reaction Technology Office (RRTO), NAVAIR Irregular Warfare Innovation Cell and the National Maritime Intelligence Center Innovation and Technology Branch...and you heard it here on AW first.

Got to take a ride on her from Little Creek to Norfolk back when I worked at the Marina on NAS. She is a cool boat.
