Evidently Intruders did a little bit of everything. Never seen pictures of one showing a Tu-16 whats up! Always thought that was for the pointy nose guys.

Ive got a few (5-6?) pix of an 'UGLY' snugglin' up, to, and around a Rooskie TU-16 BADGER and exchanging some 'international good luck signs' w/ Crazy Ivan's crew ... at least the view that could be obtained from our cockpit. I think they're on slides ... need to dig 'em out. Ho-hum. :)

This is one that fell out of my sea chest a few years ago ... we're rollin' up over the top of IVAN and a VA-195 Fruit-Fly to snap the pix and then join up close & personal w/ extreme promiscuity on IVAN's starboard side ... :) ... to exchange more international good luck signs.

By any chance did that good luck sign say that IVAN was #1? :icon_wink I think I'm familiar with it. :D

It's probably the same sign ... :icon_wink

And as 'anyone' can press a ham under glass ... my Texas-Baptist-preacher's-kid B/N, being extremely 'creative', took it up a notch ... and yes ... yes ... I said he 'took it up a notch' in a tactical jet ... so he presented the Rooskies w/ yet ANOTHER example of American ingenuity and ANOTHER 'good luck sign' that involved FULL FRONTAL NUDITY ... and in an A-6, it CAN be done
if you're 'good' (wouldn't have believed it had I not seen it) ... :)

IVAN just sat there ... in the cockpit, observer ports, gun tubs ... and just looked, w/ mouths open ... I don't know why their mouths were open, in case you're going to ask. Very disturbing, how-some-ever ...

And then the cameras came out and they started snappin' ... and I thought we'd end up on the front page of Stars & Stripes in a day or two as something of an international 'incident' ... but it never happened.

Рад тебя видеть!

Awesome, just awesome. Those were the days, sending out sorties to intercept IVAN and protect our freedoms, that and let them know we will always be #1! I miss the Cold War. :icon_wink

Speaking of the Cold War, saw this beast loading a satellite for Serious Radio at Moffett Field. I was told it costs $100K just to fly the payload to Russia:

Best quote in the recent 2012 movie-

"Holy Crap that airplane is huge!"

(Thick Ruskie accent) "Is Russian...."

Edit by mod: More likely a fly by or touch and go. Not a launch.
