On leave and saw this....big.

When I was in college, I was a lineman at the local airport. We had HTSI as a tenant at the field, and they had probably a half dozen or so skycranes (as well as a couple CH-53's and super hueys.....the stretch version the Shah of Iran had ordered). I remember one socked in early Oct evening when they all had their flyoff from fire season. Sounded like the earth was about to explode as they all sequentially came down the chute and appeared over the runway. Real cool helos.

About 11 years ago I woke up in my girlfriend’s (now wife) apartment in Boston to the sound of an Erickson Skycrane putting an HVAC unit onto a building next to her condo………….those pilots were GOOD. I think Erickson and Evergreen are the only two flying them.

[Sorry. I couldn't help it. Even though it's not true! But it was an opening I just couldn't ignore. :D ]

Nope, but #4 has probably been cannibalized to the bones to get the other three flying.

Scratch that, all four were "operational" for the fly off. :D

True...I felt bad for the crew that had to fly the "parts bird" home at the end of the cruise. That thing had been sitting in the hangar for 8 months. Then again, they were going home and I was riding the ship back up...something tells me they win.

Yeah I know - I was attempting some UN related one world government conspiracy theory humor. Had one of those stop on our ramp a few years ago:
