Is that bad? It looks bad...?

To tie this back with Navy detailing discussions, that dude in the cockpit is probably a 55 year old pot belly Russian alcoholic O-3 who was not on the golden path. ?
To add on to the fan fiction, Sergei dreams of closing out his career with a FAO tour to Tajikistan. However, his asshole detailer in Moscow has continually extended his PRD/SEDD, and consigned him to a life of ass-puckering waveoffs to the coal-powered Admiral Kuznetsov carrier.

With the FAO gig shut down, he still dreams of a lat transfer to the acquisition community, where the real money is at...?

Nearing the end of his extension hell, Sergei politely asked the detailer to send him back to Moscow for some much needed shore duty, in order to teach the next generation of Russian Naval Aviators. Seeing this, the detailer promptly ORDMODs Sergei and sends him kicking and screaming back to the Kuznetsov as a Shooter in order to “broaden his knowledge of the REAL RFN”.

Sergei, in protest, drops his papers to resign and applies for a job with Rosatom. His resignation is denied due to the Russian equivalent of a stop-loss (which basically amounts to them "losing his paperwork" and threatening prison if he does not report to his next assignment), and subsequently is re-assigned as Air Liason Officer on the Moskva, OOB March 2022. One month into his duty, Ukraine strikes the ship with missiles, sinking it.

RIP.

Sergei, disgusted at the options the detailer is providing (Moskva Air LNO?), drops resignation papers in 2021, to return to a life of rustic Beet farming, and banging his stout/sturdy wife...unaware of his IRR commitment.

It's now 2023, and Sergei is recalled from the IRR rolls to lead a battalion of freed convict conscripts to assault the rubble of Bakhmut. He curses his detailer as he advances toward the front lines in an antiquated Soviet C2 vehicle...?

Sergei should have taken that resident PME opportunity in bum-fuck Siberia when he had the chance...

Here's an interesting video about how Soviets trained their fighter pilots. He also covers Soviet TOPGUN which his dad attended.

Also, here's my favorite vid of his discussing how the Soviets smuggled booze using the Tu-22.
