RIP Maj Bland and Thomas Heitmann

Both died in a training flight aboard MCAS Camp Pendleton. One well into his career, one eagerly beginning his career.

Both will be sorely missed.

Crazy to hear. I had been wondering what happened to them. Lots of big birds around my house, and nearby Pendleton. Wouldn't have thought they would be much of an issue to helos.

Quick update: Captain Heitmann's family has set up a memorial to raise money for a track to be built at his high school. There will be various fundraisers to help raise the required funds. Here is the link if you're interested.
