You have to be a SELRES/drilling reservist, IRR doesn't count.

Has anyone had success starting the paperwork for transfer of benefits just prior to 6YCS? I asked the VA if you could start it a few months early so you can get it done by the time your 6th year anniversary hits and I got a 'dunno, just try it and see what happens.'
